like l know there for different types of riding but can someone explain to me all the different styles for boards and what they are for? thank you

Ok here is the basic rundown. There r 6 main types of boards, freestyle,freeride(all mountain), race, powder, pipe, & beginner.

Freestyle: Typically twin tip. Softer flex with lots of pop for strong ollies.

Freeride: Directional shape. Stiffer & more responsive for holding an edge at higher speeds.

Race: Directional shape with a flat tail. Very stiff & very responsive with binding stance set at positive angles on both feet.

Powder: Also referred to as a swallow-tail. Directional shape with a cut out tail & a setback stance. Designed to have a surf feel in deep powder.

Pipe: Similar to a freestyle board, just stiffer to hold an edge better when coming up the pipe walls.

Beginner: Typically a directional shape. Has a very soft flex & a very shallow side cut. Wo not respond to subtle movements that a beginner does not know how to control yet. Makes the learning experience much easier.
