hey im doing a road trip from nova scotia to vermont and am wondering where the best ski mountain is, im originally from whistler BC so im used to big mountain terrain, is there anything similar to that in Vermont, thanks.

l am either planning a trip there or Quebec this winter too. From what I've researched already Killington seems to be the ''big mountain'' in vermont but there are better hills for things such as park, bowls etc. It really depends what you are looking for in a resort. For me personally, it has to have a good park and some bowls.

killington is good but massive--it can be a problem for a snowboarder if its not 100% open--lots of ''kicking'' on flat spots..it has great nightlifer though for after skiing.
--okemo is 20 miles from killington & is a good resort--not the steepest or biggest but overall may be my personal favorite.

--the bonus of killington/okemo is that u can ride both mountains but still stay in one hotel-i would stay in the killington r though so u can go out & night

--lastly Jay peak is known for its glades (woods trails)

well if u r used to the quality of snow out west, & thats you're top priority, go with Jay Peak. Its pretty much on the boarder of Canada, about an hour or two north of Burlington. It gets all the lake effect snow from Lake Champlain because of its position north east of it (most snow for any resort in the east: 300+ inches). If size is ur top priority go with killington (massive) or stowe (fairly large). Stowe is right near Burlington, if u r looking for rustic, its Mad River Glenn hands down. if u want mid size high speed modern family resorts go with stratton or sugar bush. if u want cute, small, & semi-rustic, ultra family friendly, go with Smuggler is Notch. Bottom line is u really can not go wrong in vermont, all the skiing ive done at any of the resorts has been the best out of any area on the east coast (except for maybe mt. tremblant or whiteface if the conditions r particularly favorable, which they usually arent. cold & icy)
